Prescription Requests

We operate a 24hr designated answer machine service whereby you can leave a message of your prescription requests at any time of the day or night.  Please ring 94 471818 or 94 471022.

You can also fill out a prescription request form at reception and post in the prescriptions box.

Alternatively you can order online via the link at the top of this page. New users are required to complete a simple one-off registration.

Repeat prescriptions may be issued for regular medication as arranged by your doctor.

Requests for non-repeat prescriptions for acute problems will be passed to the doctor for attention.

Please allow 2 working days before collecting your prescription.

Medication Reviews

Patients on repeat medication will be asked to see a doctor, nurse practitioner or practice nurse at least once a year to review these regular medications and notification should appear on your repeat slip. Please ensure that you book an appropriate appointment to avoid unnecessary delays to further prescriptions.

Medication Budget

The drug budget for Northern Ireland has been cut by 18% which is a reduction in monetary terms of 41m.  The practice currently has an overspend on prescribing which means that we have had to implement changes to our prescribing as recommended by the Business Services Organisation.

You may find that the name and dosage of your medication will change from time to time but please be assured that it will treat your condition in the same manner.

We will also stop prescribing some medication that is easily purchased over the counter from your pharmacy.  Please see the poster in the waiting area for specific information.

Also we would ask that you only request medication that is necessary.  If you are not taking your medication or cannot tolerate it please speak to the doctor and do not reorder.  Drug wastage is a contributory factor in our overspend and we would ask that you do not stockpile medication.
